A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A CRE PROFESSIONAL
O U R M I S S I O N
EMPOWR (Education, Mentorship, & Professional development of Women in Real Estate) is a professional development program focused on female students pursuing a career in commercial real estate. What role does this field play in the average commercial real estate transaction? How does a student get their foot in the door with this company? Are there any required licenses or certifications to work in an entry level position? How is this position compensated? What makes a successful employee in this field? How does having a degree in real estate differentiate a student as a job applicant? Is there a certain personality type that thrives under this field’s work environment? Which companies do the most business in this field?
This program will kickstart its orientation with Mentor and Mentee introductions. Students will cycle through each Mentor throughout the course of one semester (one industry per shadow session). Group sessions will follow after Mentor shadowing to discuss their exposure to the field. In these sessions, students will learn from each other the most effective way to shadow their specific professional, as well as special topics covered by an EMPOWR leader. The full schedule can be found below. At the end of your shadowing day, you should be able to answer the following questions:
